Ping was in the news about a year-and-a-half ago when it was reported she had been beaten with a golf club. Her injuries were so severe, there was little hope she would survive.
Beaten severely and left for dead
Karen McCauley thought she saw a bird lying near her car, but after the lump made a terrible noise, she saw it was a kitten. Beaten and nearly unrecognizable, she solicited the help of a co-worker to give it some milk and cat food before taking it to a local veterinarian.
Karen told the Crestview Bulletin,”I’m surprised she’s as friendly as she is after that, it’s bizarre. She never cries or complains about pain; she just has the best attitude.”
Sweet as can be
For a kitten whose prognosis included very little chance of survival, Ping has surprised everyone. When McCauley brought her in, she had three broken ribs, missing fur, a severe hernia, and suffered from both anemia and malnutrition. A lot to overcome for any cat, let along a tiny foundling.
McCauley started a GoFundMe page that raised $1,400 in just a couple of month’s to help cover Ping’s medical expenses. In addition, she she had herself contributed hundreds of dollars to make sure the kitten got the care she needed and deserved.
Looking for forever home
McCauley took the kitten in and has been fostering her ever since. Unfortunately, Ping and her own cat don’t get along, so she is seeking a loving foster for the special girl.
“It breaks my heart,” McCauley told NWF Daily News. “I guess since all of the time that she was separated my cat thought she was getting special treatment. So when I started trying to let her out … she wasn’t going to put up with that. Every time she sees her, she tries to attack her.”
Ping is said to be a very sweet cat and dotes on being held and loved. McCauley hopes she can find the perfect home for her.
“She is very affectionate and just wants to be someone’s best friend. “She loves to sit on your shoulders or chest, investigate all you do, and loves to be picked up and carried.”
