Cat News How to Make a Cat Proof Christmas Tree December 8, 2012 2 Comments By Karen Harrison Binette This should keep the cat from knocking over the tree and trying to eat the ornaments. At first she was curious, then she felt compelled to attack the tree. I had a couple hanger bolts with 1/4″ rod couplings from a previous project. Finally found a joist in the ceiling, drill hole, insert hanger bolt and coupling. Inserted a short 1/4″ bolt through the end of the base. Bolted the base to the ceiling, inserted tree into the base upside-downily. Put in a couple self tapping screws through the base and pole for good measure. O christmas tree. Now cat free. She likes admiring it now, but doesn’t attack it. Holidays saved by DIY! <via> . About Author Karen Harrison Binette See author's posts
That’s not new. I have had an upside down tree for 5 yrs because of the animals. Now the cats hide on top but doesn’t topple.
