For those of you who followed the story of Trooper, the cat who, in 2012, was found injured and frozen to the ground, Gwen Samms posted the following on the Troopers for Trooper Facebook page:

I’m so sorry to have to be writing this update. Through tears of sorrow. :.(

Our hearts are broken. :'( Trooper was getting worst so his Drs. did an Ultrasound and this is killing me to have to write this update.. I know you all Love him as much as we do and I wish I could call all of you personally to let you know instead of you having to find out on social media. But I know that is impossible.. Our precious boy has aggressive Kidney Cancer. :'( There was nothing that could be done or tried b/c this is a very aggressive cancer. He was suffering and we love him too much and with the advice of his Dr. decided to let him go.. Today He was helped over the Rainbow Bridge with the help of his #1 Dr. while in the arms of the one that loved and cared for him daily, Delores. This was something we were not expecting or ready for ..Our hearts were breaking But we could not let him suffer . We love you Trooper and will miss you forever.

Trooper meets the band Trooper.

You did a good fight but now it’s your time to be at peace across the rainbow bridge. Rest In Peace King Trooper <3 You will be missed by your loving world wide loving.
Trooper you were by far the bravest, sweetest , most forgiving soul I have ever had the pleasure of knowing. You never gave up on humanity even after everything humans put you through.

Delores (left) and Gwen Samms with Trooper one year after his plight.

They say that hearts don’t really break, dear lord that isn’t true, for today you took our Trooper away and broke our hearts in two.
Our special man Trooper helped bring so many good people together through his fight to survive when left frozen to that driveway almost 5 years ago. Trooper you were an inspiration to many. I received messages throughout the past almost 5 years from people who told me it is b/c of Trooper that they decided to go into rescue. You were the voice for the homeless and neglected. You helped save so many other precious kitties through you inspiring others to go out and help. Your life was precious to so many others. You did good my handsome man but now it’s your time to run free at the rainbow bridge, pain free. You have stolen the hearts of many and today I know those hearts are hurting as much as ours.

You are and always will be my Hero Trooper.
<3 Forever in our hearts <3
<3 Trooper , Da Man <3
Trooper will be buried (laid to rest) wrapped in the flags his aunties June (Scotland flag) and Monika (Sweden flag) gave him. A pic of him and his auntie Maryanne was placed next to his precious heart, Sona’s Teddy Bear that Linda Shepherd wanted Trooper to have after Sona crossed over, My watch is wrapped around his paw and his momma Delores put her “Momma’s Trooper” bracelet on his other paw.

We send you off with love and peace, Trooper. Thank you for touching our lives.
