A tiny kitten was rescued from drowning in a bucket of oil by a Good Samaritan, is now on her way to recovery.

“She was absolutely coated, you couldn’t see any part of her body at all,” Stephen Heaven, president and CEO of the Toledo Area Humane Society, told WTOL News. “It was just coated in oil.”

It took upwards of 45 minutes for staff to get her cleaned and she will have more baths soon to come.

“We’re thinking they (her eyes) are going to be sore for a little while, so we’ll keep an eye on that, otherwise she seems pretty good. She is sneezing oil still, so obviously some had got in there and caused an obstruction somewhere.”

There’s more good news for the little girl, too, as she will be adopted by her rescuer, who has already dubbed the oil-soaked kitty “Buddha.”

While the Humane Society believes is was an accident, they are asking for the public’s help to share any information about the incident, as oil is toxic.
