Again … .

Another cat is lost at JFK airport in Queens, NY after being allowed to escape her crate.

When we learned today that a cat named Xiaohwa had recently gone missing at JFK our thoughts turned to Jack, the cat who got international support when he was missing there last year, and then to the Jack The Cat is Lost in AA Baggage at JFK Facebook page.

Jack’s page was on the case and had this explanation of the situation with Xiaohwa:

“FoJs [Friends of Jack] – we’ve become aware that there is another cat gone missing at JFK. Xiaohwa (pronounced Jow-wah) was supposed to be on Air China Flight 0019 on 10/18. At 2pm, Xiohwa was removed from her carrier to inspect the cage for security and bolted from there. Unfortunately, this kitty is FIV+ and has several other health issues.

“The owner’s boyfriend has been in contact with Laura Francoeur at Port Authority. He reports that they said they were “setting out traps and waiting for the kitty” (sound familiar?). At this point, we are trying to figure out if there is anything we can do to help find this kitty. Despite meeting with Port Authority people earlier this summer and letting them know about our willingness to help them in these types of cases, they have not contacted anyone from Where Is Jack? Inc.. What can you do?? Please SHARE THIS STORY with anyone you think could help. And please pray that Xiaohwa will be found healthy and she and her family will be reunited soon!!!!!!”

Despite the international spotlight shone on his case, Jack was not retrieved and did not survive for long after falling through a ceiling tile after weeks of starvation and dehydration in the AA terminal. Those who have learned of Xiaohwa’s case hope that she is found in time for a much better outcome.

Xiaohwa is an 8 pound, 4 year old microchipped female tabby cat, missing at JFK since October 18, 2012. Her markings are more gray and black than they appear in her missing cat photo.

Home Again pet microchip service has Xiachwa listed on their lost pets section. Her lost cat page listingcan be found and shared from HERE.

A Xiaohwa is Lost at JFK Airport Facebook page has been set up today. We encourage readers who want to help lend support to the search to “like” the page.

The post authority recently announced that a new world class animal care and handling facility is to be built at JFK. See our post JFK Airport to Build World Class Animal Care and Handling Facility for more.
