A young Tierrasanta, CA resident of a condo complex in the San Diego suburb showed no fear or concern for her own safety when she chased down a coyote that had run off with her cat.

Lauren Fanucchi didn’t think twice about running after the coyote who’d come right up to her patio in the condo complex, picked her cat Bandit up in its mouth and took off.  Lauren re-enacted the chase for a news crew and showed where she finally got Bandit back.

Bandit is recovering at the Veterinary Specialty Hospital in Sorrento Valley. Veterinarian Dr. Josh Jackson says the cat has head trauma and a broken jaw. It is painful seeing Bandit’s mouth area in the video below, but he is on the mend.

Lauren is a college student without a lot of money, but she is determined to get Bandit the care he needs to recover even though the bill will run into the thousands. She says she’s sure the story will have a happy ending. “I have faith,” she said of Bandit’s recovery, and “It’s just money,” she said of the cost.
