Westminster Mouse Problem So Bad It Requires MP Feline Intervention

Seems that mice are making the lives of Westminster Members of Parliament (MP’s) and their associates miserable.  Postings have gone up in the hallways citing ways to deter the rodents from moving in and taking over the House of Commons.  However, in response, one individual responded by defacing said notification with their immediate and practical solution, “get a cat.”

Another MP, Stella Creasy, Labour MP for Walthamstow, also share her sentiments via twitter: “This is so UNFAIR. When does Parliament get its own cats? we’ve got loads of mice (and some rats!) after all!” Not entirely certain as to whether she was speaking to specifically to rodents or the rat reference was directed at opposition leaders, regardless, the statement addresses the issue at hand. She added in a later tweet, “As if my cat Asbo would get through security at the commons…”

Enter MP Penny Mordaunt, Minister for Disabled People, Work and Health, who decided to take action and intervene, at least in some small part, by bringing one of her four Burmese, Tatiana, to join the ranks, even if temporarily, with other notable ratters, Larry, Palmerston and Gladstone to resolve the problem.

Cats being of the action-oriented nature, may just be what Parliament ordered…at least where the mice are concerned, but, as no doubt will happen with anything that is even close to being political in scope, there are those that will take sides.  Hopefully, for the sake of the civil servants who spend most of their time in the corridors and offices that bear the infestation, this is one situation where both parties will agree that feline help is a necessity for resolution and peace across the country…or at least in Whitehall.
