This is Waffle sleeping, during the first few days I had her. She was six weeks old and about half the weight she should have been. She was very sick. She was not eating or drinking. She had diarrhea and ringworm. She nearly died one night, but I stayed up with her for hours keeping her warm and giving her sugar water.

.

Reddit user Pasteque, an experienced cat caretaker, shared an album of photos of a kitty she is fostering and has nursed back to health.

She wrote:

We aren’t sure what happened to her before she got the shelter, but by the time she got there she was malnourished, dehydrated, not eating or drinking, and she had diarrhea and ringworm. I was able to get her healthy again by keeping her warm, syringe feeding her, and giving her lots of fluids and medicine. The first week, I had to wake up every few hours to check on her and feed her. It was rough for both of us, but entirely worth it!

Here are all the meds I had to give her. Anti-nausea, dewormer, several different types of antibiotics, and saline solution. These mostly just kept her hydrated and kept her from getting any secondary infections while she fought off her illness.

.

Here she is two weeks later! This is about when she started eating on her own again. Before that I had to syringe food into her mouth several times a day.

.

Look at those eyes!

.

At the end of the second week she finally felt well enough to start playing!

.

Here she is three weeks after I got her. Nine weeks old.

.

She is still missing some fur on her tail and she is mostly eyes and tummy now, so she looks a bit silly, but she is much healthier and almost ready to be adopted!

  1. She is so very precious. You did a wonderful job of bringing her back from the brink. The photos clearly show how dangerously ill she was. I’m so very happy she made it. Her eyes are captivating and I believe that she is an old soul and has seen much before. She deserves the very best for the rest of her life.

  2. Thank you so very much for saving this precious baby. I really would like to know the status of the kitten. Ever since I first read this article a few days ago and seeing the photos I have wondered about her. Is she still thriving, did she ever get adopted??? If not what city, state is she in???? Please can anyone give us an update here, thanks.
