Volunteer Chris Degner Has a Heart of Solid Gold

The amazing things about volunteers are their humility. Their desire to help comes from a special, selfless place, and their genuine care and concern about the whatever their passion may be shows.

Perhaps that is why Chris Degner has been wonderfully successful in seeing so many cats and kittens become adopted. His heart is with each animal he works with, believing, in all honesty, that every cat and kitten has a forever home waiting just for him or her.

Degner started out fostering cats, but the last five years he has been able to make the time, because it is important to him, to help out at adoption clinics at PetSmart. “The kittens are easy, they go fast, but the older cats are much tougher to get homes for so when we get one a home like the one in the (above) video it’s extra satisfying.”

“I’m one of about 10 volunteers that put in time at the clinic and we work as a team to make sure the cats get safe homes and make sure they don’t get resurrendered at another shelter.”

“I’ve been in the entertainment and liquor industry for 30 years and have had many successes in those fields but nothing compares to helping a defenseless animal find a loving home that has been given up for adoption.” Chris, you are a hero in our book. Thank you.
