For one veteran after returning home from Iraq, the suffering from PTSD had her on edge, to the point of sleeping in her closet to keep safe. But all of that changed when she met one very special kitten.
“It’s like walking past Tiffany’s when you see something super sparkly, you’re like, “Oh, my God! I must have that,” Karolyn Smith told reporter Jeff Zevely about seeing the amputee rescue kitten’s photo the very first time. So she adopted Sophia and Leo, as the pair came as a package deal.
And the relationship blossomed, with Karolyn later writing a book about their adventures, Sophia, the Bionic Cat, the proceeds of which go to support her non-for-profit, 3 Paws Up, with the hope of getting the book into hospitals for children.
