When the stray cat Wayne Dunham had been feeding disappeared, he didn’t think too much about it.  That was until the cat returned almost two weeks later with horrible injuries.

“This throat was completely gaping, it was gross but it was rotting… he was in really rough shape,” Dunham told CTV News, stating the cat had a slit throat and broken tail.  He took the cat to a nearby veterinarian.  Two life-saving surgeries later, they cat, who has been named “Will,” for his will to live, is slowly healing.

Dr. Robert Close, the veterinarian who took care of Will said, “The laceration was badly infected, draining puss and there was a portion of the skin that had to be removed,” citing it was three inches long and was done in a straight line, exhibiting none of the tearing that would be reminiscent of an animal attack.

While he still has some mending to do, there is a happy ending to all this.  The Dunham family is planning on making Will a permanent part of their family.
