Concerned citizens, police, Animal Control and a local rescue group have all pitched in to help a tiny kitten who was painted orange.
The kitten, who is being called Sherbet, was rescued and is now on track to lead a good life.
According to a news release issued Thursday, Animal Control officers from the Savannah-Chatham Metropolitan Police Department are asking the public to help identify the prankster (their term) who spray painted the little kitten.
Sherbet was rescued when officers responded to the area of Churchill and Mildred in Savannah after getting a report on a six-week old kitten that was painted orange. The kitten was in distress due the paint on its face and body. Concerned citizens stood by until Animal Control arrived and took the kitten to be cleaned and receive veterinary care at SCMPD Animal Control.
Jodi Lewis with SCMPD Animal Control says One Love Animal Rescue will take Sherbet into their foster program, where the kitten will remain in foster care until he or she reaches at least 8 weeks old and has recovered from the dangerous and distressing experience. Sherbet will then be made available for adoption into a good home.
Please catch the creep who could do something so cruel ! Thank God for the people and officers who rescued this kitten….they are heroes. Having several cats rescued from horrible situations, I just don’t understand how anyone can even go about their life after such cruelty to innocent animals. I pray this sweet baby gets healthy and finds a loving indoor forever home. How terrofied Sherbert must have been. Spray paint the pig who did this !!!
