.Honey loves to ride shot gun. Scratch that. Honey likes to ride in style on her owner Romy’s shoulder. In fact, the pair has gone far and wide in this manner, with Honey, of course, garnering all the attention she could possibly want.
Honey was rescued by Romy Ashby from a kill shelter in New York in November of 2007, when she was somewhere between 1 and 2 years of age. When the two had nicely settled in together, Honey decided it was time to let Romy know that she was a “shoulder kitty.” As Romy says, “…she climbed up and made herself comfy. Except in rainy weather I take her out all the time here in New York. She likes to look into windows and see the action, so barbershops and laundromats are big faves. She is a good rider, she balances her weight nicely and doesn’t dig her claws in which is nice for the camel, that’s me.”
They have also traveled out west to Washington and Oregon, Honey being a big fan of both the forest wilderness and ocean. She has also explored much of upstate New York, too.
Recently the pair headed off to Amsterdam, with favorite sight-seeing locations being the little streets of the Red Light District, the winding streets behind the Royal Palace and the Dam. The tram was also a highlight, as was the old city of Edam, its many cemeteries, and quaint homes, each seemingly with a requisite Dutch kitty sitting in the front window.

Honey flew in the cabin with Romy on KLM, the only way Romy will fly when her best buddy is along for the airplane ride.
Next on the agenda for the dynamic duo? Norway to see a fjord, not to mention the many interesting cities and houses, hopefully with, as in the Dutch countryside, fellow felines peering out the windows.
When she isn’t traveling, Honey enjoys Warner Bros. cartoons, with Bugs Bunny and Marvin the Martian being particular favorites. Oh, and she is also perfectly happy lying around the house doing absolutely nothing.
