Shelter pets were treated to a Christmas Eve open house holiday party at the Central Vermont Humane Society in Montpelier VT yesterday. Now, after its second year, the event is becoming a tradition at the shelter. While some adoptions are made, the purpose of the open house is to give the shelter animals a holiday filled with warmth, attention and love. Members of the community give the shelter animals the gift of companionship and get to know them as they show support for the shelter and its mission.

CVHS Executive Director Mary Taylor told a visiting video report crew, “I hope we can send out several (pets), but our aim is to do a lot of socializing with these animals and have them have a happy holiday with all the enrichment and interaction that they’ll get from all the people coming through.”
