Scooter is a beautiful special needs kitten with Russian Blue coloring who is in the care of the Delta Community Animal Shelter in Delta, BC.
Delta Community Animal Shelter shared her story at Facebook on March 11, saying:
“We want you to meet a VERY special little kitten who has the most amazing spirit – she suffers from a congenital defect where her back legs are not formed correctly. They are tucked underneath her and she essentially walks on her knees (rather Scoots on her knees). She and her siblings were found abandoned in Tsawwassen and a good Samaritan brought them in. Her siblings are all healthy kittens and we have named them Nat, Drew and Erin – all after the Nat and Drew Show!
“Scooter is under veterinary care at Sunshine Hills Veterinary Hospital and we have xrays sent off to be looked at by a surgeon. But what we have heard is that kittens like her can have a full and happy indoor life (on carpet!). So far Scooter doesn’t seem to have any other issues. She eats (actually she is first at the food dish) and goes to the bathroom without issue. She will eventually just need a special home.”
The shelter initially said that Scooter and her siblings were not yet available for adoption, but invited interested parties to apply. One of the applicants was a perfect match for Scooter and her needs, so her future petparent has already been found. The shelter wrote: “We have had an adopter come forward who is the PURRRfect match for her! They have experience with cats with special needs, carpet, veterinary medicine experience and they can be with her 24/7 (so far we are realizing she is going to need certain care – like bum baths). We have decided that if all goes well with her work-up we will be adopting her to this candidate.”
Delta Community Animal Shelter will get help for Scooter through their Tollie Fund. They are accepting donations to be applied toward her care.
