Three year old Sasha seemed to recover after being hit by a car last December but was, in fact, suffering from severe internal injuries that made it progressively harder for her to breathe. When Sasha’s guardian Kerry McKenna of Carstairs Village, Lanarkshire UK took her for a checkup, veterinarian Edy Anderson noticed the cat’s difficulty in breathing and took xrays that showed serious damage from the accident. Sasha’s intestines and part of her liver had been pushed out of place and into her chest cavity.
Kerry was told that Sasha’s life was in danger and she needed surgery, but that her chances of survival were 50/50. Dr. Anderson said “Sasha was balancing on a knife edge.” Kerry added: “I was warned she might never wake up, but it was the only solution.”
Sasha not only survived her two hours on the operating table, she has made a remarkable recovery.
“It was very tense but she came through just fine,” said Dr. Anderson, who works at the Clyde Vet Group in Lanark. “She has been through a hell of a lot with the crash and the operation but she doesn’t seem to let anything get her down.”
Sasha’s relieved guardian said “The vets did a fantastic job. Sasha’s back to her old self.
