Animal rescuers are often highly dedicated to their cause, and the volunteers of the Cat Cuddles Sanctuary are no exception. When a mother cat and her four kittens needed to be rescued from an unusual situation, these rescuers waited for 8 nights before the entire family was safe.
In November of 2015, a feral mother and her kittens crawled into the foundation of a house in London. Unfortunately, the cats were way back in a sort of maze, making it impossible to access them. The homeowners called the Cat Cuddles Sanctuary, but the only chance of rescuing the cats was to lure them out into the open.
It was a job that required the utmost patience. Rescuers used food to try to lure the cats out, and sat quietly by the hole in the foundation that the cats had used to access the space. Gradually, three of the kittens came out and were captured. They had fleas and were anemic, so the kittens went straight into a foster care situation to get them healthy until their mother could be caught.
The rescuers had waited for almost a week before the mother cat came out and they were able to catch her, using an expensive trap that couldn’t be left unattended. They reunited the mother with her three kittens, and she readily accepted them.
But there was still no sign of the fourth kitten. Another day passed before the remaining kitten poked his head out of the hole. On the eighth day of the vigil, the kitten emerged and a rescuer was able to catch him. He was cleaned up and reunited with his family, which readily accepted him back.
Persistence paid off in this rescue, and the cats may owe their lives to the volunteers of the Cat Cuddles Sanctuary.
I am sure they appreciated all the rescuers did for them. Thank you
