A happy update to a sad story. The adult cats removed from a disturbing hoarding environment are staying in a pleasant space that is helping them to become happy, beautiful and well cared for cats.

On July 24, 2012, the SPCA for Monterey County rescued 51 cats from horrific conditions in Seaside, CA. Sadly, the SPCA also discovered 113 deceased kittens. Thanks to generous donations from the public and loving care from the SPCA, the surviving cats are showing remarkable improvement.

For our story of July 26 on the case, see Monterey County SPCA Deals With Cats From Tragic Hoarding Case Seizure. Accused hoarders Donna Johnson and her mother, Maggie Johnson, are facing multiple charges of animal cruelty and animal neglect. They will be arraigned on Sept. 11.
