Redlands, CA firefighters responded to a call Saturday morning when a detached garage caught fire. A crew of 16 firefighters got the fire under control in 15 minutes and rescued two kittens from the burning building. The kittens were transferred to  Redlands Animal Control, where they will be cared for until they are old enough to be adopted.

JT Sandberg, who is interested in becoming a firefighter, got some first hand experience with the animal rescue aspect of firefighting when he went to the scene of the fire on a ride-along and helped with one of the kittens.
