Please Help Angel’s Cause Reach the Walker Internet Cat Video Festival

 Here at Life With Cats we love cat videos, and we consider it our mission to share cat related news and to help spread the word on animal advocates and rescuers and their work. This post and the opportunity it affords combines all of these things.

Here is our and your chance to be part of the nominating process for the 2013 second Internet Cat Video Festival organized by the Walker Art Center in Minneapolis, and to help with an effort to find justice for an abused cat who is living well now thanks to her rescuers.

Toronto area cat lover, and tireless advocate and rescuer Lilly Szilagy has been closely involved in the case of Angel, a young cat who was found severely crippled in a cat carrier next to a McDonald’s in Toronto last November. Some of her injuries were old and untreated. The vet’s assessment is that she was repeatedly stomped and kicked. After the terrible treatment she endured, Angel had the good fortune to be found by someone who got her to rescuers, and to end up in the care of Karen Beharrell of Special Ones Cat Rescue. Despite being advised to put her down, Angel’s rescuers and friends instead gave her a new chance at life. Now she has regained her mobility with a special wheeled cart given to her by K9 carts.

Lilly is asking cat lovers to nominate her video on Angel’s story and the search for her abuser to bring it to greater attention. Any video that makes it to the festival will gain exposure. This appeal is not for Lilly’s own glory, but to help Angel’s cause.

Toronto, Canada — Special Ones Cat Rescue is offering a reward in hopes of finding whoever abused the kitten Angel.

Angel has a message for her abusers! You tried but failed and I live and we will find you!

Angel was found in a carrier on November 14,2012 at the Mc Donalds at Bathurst/Dundas street in Toronto. She has a broken spine and ribs (some of the injuries are old) and needs care from a specialist and given a chance at life!

The first vet and rescue who saw Angel said she should be euthanized as she will
have no quality of a good life. Special Ones Cat Rescue took her in after
being told about this little girl’s zest for life.This little lady deserves to shine brightly
and we will do whatever we can to help:)

Update note from Lilly: People have commented that Angel was run over by a car but she has old and new broken ribs and spine and no other damage like internal injuries so unless she was run over by 4 or 5 cars at different times, then the rescue will have to go by what the vets say which is she was stomped and kicked repeatedly. Just clarifying
