Reddit user LittleBlueKnickers posted the story of Missy, a cat found abandoned on her father’s property two years ago, who then disappeared. On a recent trip back to visit her father’s grave, LittleBlueKnickers was met by a very skinny but still warm and loving Missy, and she took her home.
LittleBlueKnickers confessed in comments at Reddit that she cried when she found Missy and saw the condition she was in.
Missy will be allowed brief supervised visits outside for a while as she becomes accustomed to life indoors. She will be an indoors only kitty once she has gotten fully accustomed to being inside. .
Meet Missy. She was abandoned 2 years ago at my dad’s house, that was then up for sale, after giving birth. We never found her kittens. We did however do our best to fatten up the skinny little mama, going up every other day to feed her. This and the next 2 images are of her from two years ago.

Missy was the sweetest cat I’d ever met. Quick to love and purr and cuddle. I don’t think I ever saw her not purring. She had the cutest habit of taking a few bites, wandering over to you to make sure you were still there, before returning to eat.
.
One day we were unable to make it up to the house to feed her as normal, and when we returned she wasn’t there. She never showed up to be fed again. We thought a coyote got her, or she was hit by a car. The house sold and we had to give up.
.
Two years later I was visiting my dad’s grave and decided to visit the plot of land that we still own there that’s next to the old house. On the lane, walking high and mighty, was a little gray cat. She was skin and bones and covered in scars. One of her eyes was bloodshot and swollen, but it was impossible mistake her for anything else but my missing kitty. This is her today.
.
I knelt down next to her and she crawled in my lap, purring and meowing just like she’d used to. I could feel every bone in her body, from her ribs to her spine to her hip bones. She felt like she was on death’s door, but she still had enough in her to love.
.
I took her home and she’s living in my garage until her vet appointment on Friday. I’m keeping her this time. I’m worried she might be pregnant but if she is then we’ll spay her after she has them. She has a home now ♥
.
A little glimpse of how skinny she is. You can see her hipbones pretty well here as she desperately licks the spoon I used to feed her some kitten food.
.
Stepping outside for the first time in a few days! She seems to simply want to stick close to me for now.
.
The grass seemed to make her uncomfortable. Too open maybe? She’s been living in the woods for two years, it can’t be easy to make a switch like this!
.
Back by the safety of the garage, we had company and she was all too eager to say hello!
.
A nice stretch in the sunlight! Oh how I love her 🙂
