It’s being called miraculous that Annie survived from the time she was a kitten with a piece of wire wrapped around her belly. Vets operated and she is expected to be fine. She will stay at a shelter until she finds a good home.
Annie is thought to have been someone’s cat once, but she had been on her own for quite some time when a Good Samaritan in Hucknall, Nottingham, UK noticed a piece of wire sticking from her fur one day earlier this month and called the RSPCA to get her the help she needed. An RSPCA officer came and captured Annie so she could receive medical care.
Vets found that the ginger tabby had a piece of wire wrapped around her belly that had been there so long that it had grown into her flesh, leaving her with a cinched in and somewhat distorted form and painful sores. They believe she was still a kitten when she became caught in the wire.
Annie’s survival is being touted as miraculous, in part, because she could easily have gotten infected from her wounds and the wire under her skin, and died, yet she survived.
This x-ray shows the wire still in place before Annie’s surgery.
Annis will go to the RSPCA Radcliffe on Trent Animal Centre in Nottingham. The RSPCA is looking for information about Annie’s background and former family.
