Five kittens were reunited with their mama following a Manchester, NH house fire, and the little family is recuperating at an animal hospital.
Manchester firefighters rescued a litter of six kittens from a fire at an apartment building in the city on Thursday. Sadly, one of the babies died. Firefighters were unable to find the mama cat, but she had managed to escape the fire and she was picked up when she returned home Thursday night.
Mama was reunited with her kittens at the Veterinary Emergency Center of Manchester, where all of the kittens were getting oxygen treatment for smoke inhalation.
Shelly Greenglass, manager of the Manchester Animal Shelter said the owner, who was displaced by the fire, surrendered the kittens to the shelter due to the cost of their medical care.
On Friday, mama kitty was reportedly being very protective and not allowing medical personnel to get too close to her kittens.
Thanks to firefighters, the shelter and the emergency vets, the little family was safely reunited and getting the care they needed to recover from the fire.
