This 3 week old practically newborn kitten was safely removed from a car engine yesterday after it was heard meowing as the driver was about to ramp up onto the highway. It may have found a home, too.

Dominique Cropper had seen this kitten around her driveways before, but she had no idea it had crawled up into her car”s engine compartment sometime before Dominique headed out on Tuesday morning.  The woman says of the incident “I was leaving the mall and about to get on the freeway, and all of a sudden I hear a kitten meowing, and I made a U-turn, pulled over, flagged a cop down and sure enough they called … Animal Control.”

Santa Monica CA police and animal control officers pulled the little kitten out from under the hood of Dominique’s car, and the furry baby is apparently unharmed.  Dominique says a friend of hers will probably adopt the very lucky kitten who got out of the jam unscathed.

  1. OMG, poor baby! I am so glad to hear this story has a happy ending, I’d take him in a heartbeat!

Oh, and that kitten looks to be a little older than 3 weeks. More like 5 weeks…if he managed to climb all the way up into the engine compartment.
