Little Puss was 7 months old when he disappeared from his Outwood, Surrey, UK home, where he lived with Melanie Ashlin and her family. The kitten was last seen by his family in 2003, nearly 10 years ago.

Little Puss was recently discovered living with a group of cats on land belonging to a farm in South Nutfield, a couple of miles from the Ashlin home. Cats Protection picked him up and took him for a chip scan, and he was welcomed back home with open arms.  Little Puss has been back home for two weeks, and has settled back in with his family.

Melanie said, “I was so shocked; when I went to pick him up I thought he would be a bit feral. He was obviously a bit scared but he was as good as gold.”

“It is lovely having him home. He is so sweet, he doesn’t really want to go out, he’s quite happy here. I look at him and say ‘Where have you been all these years?’ I wish he could tell me.  I always wondered whether he had somewhere to live. I wondered whether he was dead, if he’d got run over. He was always in the back of my mind.”

Little Puss is not so little any more. He is, in fact, a big cat, which begs the question all the more … where have you been?
