Los Angeles community cat advocacy and care group Stray Cat Alliance has taken on the task of reaching out to the community and conducting TNR in the 90037 zip code in south LA.  The neighborhood has unhomed free roaming cats in numbers estimated at up to 12,000, many of which are considered a nuisance by some residents. The neighborhood is also one of the nation’s most economically depressed. SCA’s project in the neighborhood, part of its I Spayed LA campaign, kicked off this weekend. The group’s goals for the effort include conducting TNR for 7,000 of the neighborhood’s cats.

Group members and volunteers walked the neighborhood handing out free spay and neuter vouchers on Saturday, to help residents prevent more cats from joining the thousands already on the street.

The video below tags along with one lady who makes time in her busy life to feed homeless cats every day, as an prelude to a look at SCA’s initial phase of a project, where they get out and post flyers and talk to community members.
