Beetle was treated with cruel and callous indifference one day a month ago but since then decent people have helped him heal and feel safe, and are seeking justice for him.
Beetle was 9 or 10 weeks old when someone tossed him from a moving car in Amityville NY nearly a month ago, on June 8, causing him great injury. We have yet to learn the details of how he was first found and rescued, but he was taken to North Shore Animal League in Port Washington, where he received treatment and care through the organization’s Help Me Heal program.
Beetle suffered a herniation to his abdomen, where his intestines protruded, and came through the lower abdomen. Several organs protruded out from the herniation under his skin and had to be put back in place according to North Shore Chief of Staff Mark Verdino. The 1 1/2 pound kitten was operated on to repair the herniation and put his organs back into place. He also sustained a severe fracture to his left front leg, with shattering that may require surgery on the leg, as well.
Despite his injuries, with good care and medical attention from North Shore, Beetle is healing and is now, at 13 or 14 weeks old, safely in foster care.
The Law Enforcement Division of the Suffolk County SPCA has become involved in Beetle’s case and is offering a $1000 reward for information leading to the arrest and conviction of the person who endangered his life. The perpetrator can be charged with felony animal cruelty, punishable by up to two years in prison.
Roy Goss, of the SPCA, has said of Beetle’s case “We will not tolerate this type of animal abuse in this county” and continued, saying “People that hurt animals hurt people. Somebody like this that would commit a heinous act of animal cruelty is someone who has no feelings for animals or people, generally.” and “This person needs to be apprehended as soon as possible.”
“I am hoping somebody saw something,” Mr. Gross added, boldly calling the person who treated Beetle so terribly “a coward, a savage to do something like this to an innocent animal.” He then noted that “There are so many opportunities to give away an unwanted animal. To do this despicable act of animal cruelty is just unimaginable”.
Anyone with credible information on the case is asked to call the Suffolk County SPCA at 631-382-7722.
Video showing little Beetle and discussing his case.
What the eff is wrong with people? Get well little Beetle. 😛
omg how can anyone throw a cat out of a car sooo mean
That’s how I found my cat. He was thrown from a car too.
Good to hear that little Beetle is recovering. Also good to hear the cop so disgusted and wanting justice. Ask any cop – or freshman psych student – cruelty like that will only escalate.
I just do not get life anymore, how can people do this to poor defenseless animal’s. Y ou need License in this world to do many thing’s, i think HUMAN’S SHOULD HAVE TO HAVE A LICENSE TO OWN ANY ANIMAL’S!!!!!!
Looks just like our little house panther Sushi. I so hate people that do these things…who knows what else they are capable of . Glad to see he is recovering…deserves a life of warm laps and tuna now!
People do that alot to throw any animals out of windows while driving, some the them inside the bags which it made cats couldn’t land on ground right, some end in rivers or lakes. Sad. But I’m glad little kitty got toughen up. 🙂
Baby, baby, baby I am praying for you!
Disgusting sub-humans! It breaks my heart the way animals are mistreated!
I don’t understand this new trend…… Never will but am thankful for those that help these poor little victims~! I have to look on the bright side of this…….
He is so adorable. I cannot comprehend that type of cruelty. It’s so wonderful he is being taken care of and getting so much love. I am praying for his recovery.
I hope that there is someone out there who saw this and omes forward to put the [email protected]$#@^d away.
just once, i’d like to really f*ck up an animal abuser. just once. with the warning that whoever gets caught doing this kind of sh*t again gets the same kind of treatment….
The fact there are people out there that would hurt a small, innocent, defenseless, sweet little kitten makes me SICK beyond words. Like I once read…karma is only a “B” if you are. Those people will get their just dessert someday.
Just disgusting that someone would be heartless enough to do this kind of thing!
Me too Melissa
punished by similar suffering!….
I too am shocked at this trend. Just last week, a friend was driving down I-5 southbound in Portland, OR and witnessed a tiny white kitten scrambling in the middle of that busy freeway. It, too, could only have been ejected from a moving vehicle. Why is this happening?

Prayers for baby beatle. I am shocked and saddened that such cruelty exists in this world but I pray that he’ll find a happy home.
@Sandi Did your friend rescue the kitten or notify authorities?
