Ni Hao is in the care of LA County’s Carson Animal Care Center after his very long sea journey from China to the US.
The three month old orange and white domestic shorthair kitten made the 6.500 mile trip without food or water, and is in guarded condition at the Carson Animal Care Center’s medical unit.
Shelter director Marcia Mayeda said today that Ni Hao ate well and slept soundly last night, and woke in good spirits today.
The kitten is in temporary quarantine by standard procedures. After he recovers his strength and is vaccinated and neutered, he is expected to be made available for adoption.
