A young kitten has the promise of a new home tonight after being rescued by firefighters from the engine compartment of a BMW in Beltsville, MD this afternoon. A driver pulled over after hearing meows coming from somewhere in the car. The vehicle had been parked at a nearby repair shop for a couple of days and the kitten is thought to have gotten into the engine there. Firefighters from the Beltsville Fire/EMS Station 831 responded to the call and pulled the kitten from the engine in a 45 minute effort. The rescue crew took the kitten back to the station and one firefighter says he will find it a home with a friend or relative.
