A bystander video caught officers crawling under a car to rescue a kitten on a Phoenix area roadway earlier this week. A local traffic reporter says such incidents are common and rising.
KTAR radio traffic reporter Dan Beach aka “Detour Dan” was reporting on the incident and later said he is seeing more animals on the roads. He attributes the increase to the bad economy and says people abandon their pets in the desert, and they end up on the roads from there.
The kitten is said to have been successfully rescued.
