Junior the Therapy Cat: Helping for 12 Years

Life With Cats is reader-supported. We may earn a small commission through products purchased using links on this page.

Beverly Oakes’ cat Junior has been a therapy cat for 12 years, bringing comfort to those in need, and helping patients to communicate and to advance in their recovery. A news crew followed Junior to “work” at University Hospital in San Antonio, TX one day last year. Junior is joined in the feature by Beverly’s therapy dog Tessa.

Note: the reporter is mistaken about the number of years Junior has been working. Beverly tells us that, as of this year, it has been 12 years. Junior will turn 13 this month.
