This year Kitten Rescue Los Angeles launched their Journey Home Program which saves lives by transporting kittens from the streets and shelters of Los Angeles County to places around the country where they can find homes. The new program has enabled Kitten Rescue to save the lives of more animals, by getting them adoption ready and sending them off to areas of the country where loving homes await them.

Many of the transported kittens were in danger of euthanization at shelters before being pulled by Kitten Rescue.

So far, Kitten Rescue has worked closely with Cat Adoption Team in Portland, Oregon to transport kitties to new homes.

The program is associated with the ASPCA’s Animal Relocation Initiatives. The ASPCA provided the animal carriers used to fly the cats from Los Angeles to Oregon in the video seen below.

Kitten Rescue Foster coordinator Cynthia McKeag and kitten Rescue volunteer Tracy Walker take us along in the video as a group of cats get ready to board a flight to Portland, where Cat Adoption Team will help them to begin their new lives.

Kitten Rescue plans to expand the program by sending kittens to more shelters and organizations across the US.

  1. If you ever need ground transport in the Boise, Idaho area I would love to help out. I used to help another organization until they started breaking their own rules and transported sick cats. When collecting donations that were never used to help cats became more important than the actual saving of the cats I sadly had to give up my help with them. Please keep me in mind if I can ever help. Thank you.
