The “ABOUT” section on God’s Little People’s Facebook page says humbly, “The ‘tails’ of my cat rescues on a little Greek island and all about the silly, whimsical & enchanted art and photography made to raise donations for them.” The reality is that the woman behind it, Joan, is nothing short of being an angel.

She just posted an incredible story about Cookie, a tiny kitten she found back in 2012 when on the hunt for the lost kittens of another cat she had rescued.  On hearing a cry from nearby dumpsters, she discovered the tiny little girl. Only three weeks old and incredibly skinny, it was clear the poor baby had been lost.  Joan wondered that she had survived at all, but the worst part were here eyes that appeared to be packed with mud. Not wanting to attempt any removal, she took the tiny thing to the vet.

While waiting, a nurse came out and carefully lifted up the mud, revealing nothing but pus.  The vet continued, flushing the eyes, then removing bits of the mass with tweezers bit by bit.  Finally, the eyes were able to be flushed and although it appeared the left eye would be fine, the right was highly questionable.

Cookie was so dehydrated and malnourished, she was tube fed a densely-rich mixture and kept for overnight observation. The next day her eyes looked much better, and she was able to go home with Joan, but required antibiotic ointment and eye washes around the clock.  It took Cookie some time to be able to sleep comfortably, most likely still anxious having come from such a frightening situation, so small, all alone, and trying to fend for herself.

Cookie went on to become a happy, healthy, loving cat, but Joan believes that it was Little Grey, the cat who’s kittens Joan had been searching for when she came across Cookie, that was the true rescuer of the story.
