Janus is back with her family again, thanks to a microchip scan and a dedicated shelter staffer’s detective work.
Janus, the seven year old cat in the photo, was reunited with her owners last Thursday thanks to the efforts of Los Angeles County Department of Animal Care and Control staffers. Janus came into the Castaic Animal Care Center after she was found roaming a Santa Clarit, CA neighborhood. She was scanned for a microchip, but the owner’s information was outdated, and therefore, untraceable. A DACC staff member took it upon herself to do a little bit of research, and found a name that matched the owner’s, but at a different address in another city. It turns out, Janus had been missing for two and a half years. Her family adopted her as a kitten in 2005.
DACC hopes Janus’ happy ending story will encourage more petparents to microchip their cats.
