We can all agree that spaying and neutering pets is an absolutely necessary and responsible part of bringing an animal companion into our lives. Sometimes a person’s financial situation makes some of the costs associated with pets a hardship. Thankfully, organizations like Spay/Houston and Homeless Pet Placement League (HPPL) are stepping in to assist those in need.
Thanks to a grant from PETCO Foundation, on Sunday, September 11th, the two nonprofits will host a free feline spay/neuter clinic at the Spay/Houston clinic. In order to qualify for their 60 open spots, cat owners must be on public assistance, food stamps, Social Security, or unemployment. Proof of qualification is required at drop-off time.
Additionally, cats must be at least three pounds and tame cats must be in carriers, while feral cats must arrive in traps. There is a limit of two cats per household.
For more details, to schedule an appointment, or to sign up to volunteer at this event, please visit the Spay/Houston or Homeless Pet Placement League sites for contact information.
