Public Works employees found a little more than they bargained for when the discovered a black garbage bag on the side of the road in Miami Shores. The cat, which appears to have been someone’s pet, was crying from inside a bag that had been put into a crate and covered with feces and urine. Saving Sage Rescue was called in to assist.
“Whoever put that cat there intentionally wanted this cat to die a slow and painful death,” Cathy Bieniek of Saving Sage Rescue told NBC News 6.
The case is currently under investigation, although no fingerprints were pulled from either the crate or the trash bag at the time. Animal cruelty is a felony offense and punishable up to five years in prison.
In the spirit of the holiday, the cat has been named Kringle, and after being treated for dehydration and heat exhaustion will be put up for adoption. Please click this link to donate directly to Kringle’s expenses: https://www.facebook.com/donate/10210746033663703/
