A group working to care for and humanely reduce the number of homeless cats in their area released this beautiful video in honor of National Feral Cat Day, October 16, 2012, in the US. Habitat For Cats maintains an idyllic sanctuary for a manageable number of the cats they have helped through TNR. Photos by Ellen M. Hansen show the beauty and personality of the well cared for cats.
Regular residents of the colony are ear tipped. You will see other non-tipped cats on the video, that have been left off or made their way there.
The group writes:
Habitat for Cats in North Dartmouth, MA is a non profit organization dedicated to providing shelter, care and placement of cats and kittens in the Dartmouth area of Massachusetts.
Run by volunteers and donations, Habitat for Cats provides spay and neuters of feral cats and in some cases returns them to this sanctuary enclosure in the woods where they are fed and cared for and live out their lives. They are fed twice daily and receive regular medical care.
There are currently 40 cats living in this space with plenty of room to roam. Did you know that 70% of cats in shelters die there?

Sadly, the Isosceles the tuxie seen here with dear friend, ginger kitty Sawyer, passed away last summer. Sawyer has found another companion.

Thank you so much for such a beautiful and meaningful video and story. To all who have a hand in rescue or caring for either/or Feral or Stray kitties, I Salute you. I’m sure at times it is a heartbreaking task you’ve set for yourself. But when you look back and see all the successes you have had, it has to be heartwarming. Bless all of you and your kitty charges.
