An unknown man at the scene went into Sara Levy’s burning home in North Miami Beach, FL last Sunday and rescued her cat Kitty. Sara got out with her dog and other family members, then realized the cat must still be inside. The Samaritan brought Kitty out from the house, which has been declared a total loss. Kitty was recuperating at a Hollywood, FL veterinary hospital on Monday, receiving oxygen treatment for smoke inhalation, when Sara visited.
A news crew was on hand during the visit, and Sara took the opportunity to express her gratitude to the person who risked his own safety to rescue her beloved cat, saying “Thank you so much for doing that, for going into that mess and pulling out my cat, who was probably scratching him on the way out. I really appreciate it very much.”
“Once you fall in love with an animal, you love him,” Kitty’s relieved guardian told the news crew.
