When Jimmy Dalton pulled over to help an elderly couple last month, he had no idea one month later he’d be caring for 50 of the 100 cats found on the couple’s property.

Jerry and Marjorie Kinsey shared a home in Conway, Arkansas with approximately 100 cats — some residing indoors and some outdoors. Both in ill health and living with no air conditioning or telephone, they panicked when Marjorie fell and broke her hip last month. Jerry had no choice but to run to the road and signal for help from a passing vehicle. It was their lucky day when Jimmy Dalton was the one to stop and help them.

Dalton was alarmed when he stepped inside the dilapidated house and saw cats everywhere. The smell was overwhelming, perhaps explaining Marjorie’s respiratory issues. The couple was removed from the house and placed in assisted living, but not before Dalton promised he would take care of the cats.

And he is making good on his promise; he’s placed some of the felines and the Faulkner County Humane Society has stepped in to help with medical care and placement. There are, however, about fifty cats still living in the woods behind the house. Dalton is working with volunteers on trapping the cats and making sure they are well-cared-for. Until then, he stops by the property regularly to feed and tend to them.

Marjorie passed away on from cancer Sunday, but had many times expressed her gratitude for the good Samaritan that stopped to help that day. And the angel with the face of Jimmy Dalton never regrets a second of it.

  1. He’s a good person, but what I’ll never understand after looking at the video is, how can anyone live like that? Wow!
