When Sam McGregor, a garbage collector in Utah, set out on his regular route, he never imagined that he’d end up saving a life. But when McGregor saw Sue, a kitten, lying on the ground during a snowstorm, he knew that he had to take action.

McGregor wasn’t sure if the kitten would survive, but he got her help quickly. He wrapped the cold kitten into his coat and brought her into the warm cab of his truck, then took her to the nearby Cache Humane Society.

Humane society staff covered Sue with blankets and put her on heating pads to warm her up. Once the kitten was warmer, her appetite emerged, and she ate enthusiastically, even falling asleep in her food bowl.

During McGregor’s next shift, he stopped in to see how Sue was doing. The little kitten is alive, thanks to his quick thinking.
