I can just hear the kids saying, “But Mom, the cat made the mess on the floor!”
Also reminds me of the video of the mystery of the excessive water bill and flushing toilet. One homeowner noticed their water bill became much higher than normal. In addition, they would wake up in the middle of the night and hear the toilet flushing, over and over, but no one was there. Turned out to be the cat who figured out how to pull the lever down, then would turn and watch the water swirl down the bowl. The homeowner set up a video cam and caught the cat in the act.
