She is a testament to the courage of a mother and while the brave kitty’s tale is not completely known, it is suspected by the rescue that has taken her in, Alley Cats and Kittens, that more than likely she had been in a farmhouse location where she had been nursing her kittens when fire erupted. Flame, as she has been aptly named, was covered with burns, likely received as she tried to find her babies, rushing in and out of the blaze. It was about two weeks before she was found and appeared she had been searching that entire time. Sadly, though the team that rescued her had gone back to the farm to look for the kittens, in addition to putting word out to the community to keep their eyes opened for the little ones, Flame’s litter was never found.
Her long coat was nothing but stubble, much of it completely singed. Flame’s whiskers were gone and she had half an ear that had been burned off. In addition to the many burns she suffered, the pads of her feet were fused together.
Flame was held in intensive care for two weeks at Rufford vets and, in spite of her dramatic injuries, it appears that she has a good chance at making a full recovery. A GoFundMe page has been started for Flame to help cover the costs for this brave momma’s medical care, where you can find more information about this amazing feline.
