Firefighters from Sacramento, California got creative when trying to rescue a kitten Tuesday after the little one had been trapped in a drain for two days.
Sacramento Metro Fire Captain Alex Trevino, Engineer Kevin Summers and Probationary Firefighter Katie Trimble used cat toys and sardines given to them by a neighbor at the scene in their successful effort to coax the kitten out so it could be rescued.
The kitten was weak and hungry after its ordeal and was taken to the City of Rancho Cordova Animal Services to recuperate afterward.
The firefighters named the kitten Stormy.
The City of Rancho Cordova later wrote at Twitter: “Thank you for saving this cute kitten, @metrofirepio. He is now eating well with our Animal Services team!”
MetroFire Scramento said: “We love happy endings!”
