Firefighters rescued Soldier the cat after a fire at his home and revived him with CPR and oxygen at the scene. Soldier has been reunited with his grateful petdad.

Soldier was unresponsive when Columbia, South Carolina firefighters found him inside his home after a fire there Wednesday morning. The firefighters used a combination of chest compression and oxygen from a pet oxygen mask and successfully resuscitated him.

Soldier regained consciousness after several minutes of treatment. The firefighters looked after him until City of Columbia Animal Services took temporary custody of him until his owner, Tim Gorman was located.

Fire officials said in a news release that at last check Soldier was recovering.
