The Spokane Humane Society, of Spokane, Washington, turned to Facebook on March 29, asking for help in finding a home for a cat named Lady, who had been at the shelter for 318 days. Lady had been surrendered by her family and had lost much of her spirit over time, becoming less and less outgoing and interested in life as the months went by.
Lady was recently found to be diabetic and, while the condition was found early on, she now needs injections twice a day in order to manage her condition and keep her from becoming unwell.
The shelter felt strongly that she would do better in a real home. She could remain with SHS indefinitely if no one adopted her, but she really needed a home if she was to thrive.
SHS made the photo at top with Lady and the bold sign with the simple message. The post was “liked” over 2, 000 time and was shared well over 20,000 times. Still, she was available as the days passed.
Finally, on April 5, came the happy update saying Lady had found her home. She went home that day with her new family.
Here is the message that accompanied the appeal to find Lady a home:

Facebook fans we need your help. Lady has been at the Spokane Humane Society since 5/13/2013; nearly a year! She is about 9 years old and was surrendered because her owners didn’t feel like they had enough time for her. At first Lady was Miss Sassy Pants with other cats as well as with people. The longer she has been here the more she has mellowed out, but when Lady started acting lethargic and not sassy at all we knew something was wrong.
Nowadays the only time we really see Lady’s attitude come out is when we try to make her do something she doesn’t want to do (like draw blood), though moving her to a new environment might bring out her sassy side once again. Most of the time Lady enjoys talking to you, following you, sitting on your lap, and giving you kisses. She also (as you can see in the picture) likes to have a cat tower handy at all times.
If you or anyone you know can step up for Lady please contact SHS. Please, please share this post and help us get Lady into a home!
