When a nursing mama cat was hit by a car and taken to a vet for treatment, the local animal charity that helped mama launched an appeal to the public asking for help in finding her kittens. The kittens were rescued thanks to that appeal and are in the care of a foster mama while their mother recovers at the vet’s.

The Animal Control Officer from the Llys Nini RSPCA Animal Centre in Penllergaer, Swansea, UK who picked up the injured mama cat following her accident in Trimsaran messaged the animal charity’s Facebook page in hopes her kittens could be located in time to save their lives.  Mama kitty had been knocked over by a car and left where she fell; fortunately, she was found by ACO West.

The Centre’s post at Facebook Sunday got a lot of attention and resulted in the little lives being saved the same day the appeal went out.

Llys Nini RSPCA wrote at Facebook with the happy update later on Sunday, saying:

“The power of Face book and our followers – Life Savers!

“Last night a young cat was knocked down on a road in Trimsaran , she was picked up by a RSPCA Officer who took her to a vet. It was discovered that she had not long had kittens and so a desperate search for them began. ACO West sent a message to RSPCA Llys Nini’s Facebook page to ask for help – “young female black & white, no Id chip or collar. Road traffic collision in Trimsaran, Kidwelly. She is lactating too so would love to find owner/kittens ASAP! Now at a vets.”

“The appeal and a picture of the cat was posted on Facebook and Twitter and seen by over 11,500. Luckily one of Llys Nini’s followers recognised the picture, found the kittens and brought them to Llys Nini where they introduced to a foster mum and are now being cared for at a local vets, while we wait for news of the real mother’s condition.

“Llys Nini’s Facebook page is regularly seen by over 8,000 and has a proven track record of reunited lost animals with owners, but this is the first time that it has actually been a life saver.”

The page followed up, saying:

“Happy ending for kittens thanks to Francesca Louise Grice.  Kittens found and being cared for by foster mum. Fingers crossed for the recovery of the real mum.”

Fans of the Llys Nini centre page are also trying to help locate Mama kitty’s family, if she has one.
