Dolly spoke with us from her Campaign Headquarters at WearWoof to share some insight into her run for the Nation’s top office, her thoughtful insight about her campaign, and even tipped her paw as to who her, up to this point, undisclosed running mate will be as she marches onward and upward.

First, Dolly, I would like to congratulate you on your decision to run for the Presidency. On a purrsonal note, I can honestly tell you I am thrilled with your decision to toss your collar in the ring. Now, on to the questions.
Life With Cats: What inspired you to run for our Nation’s top office?
Dolly: Watching the debates over the winter, I realized not one of the candidates had anything to say about animal welfare! That really made my tail all puffy! What about all of the red-blooded, freedom-loving American cats and dogs dying in shelters every day? I decided I was the cat to stand up and be the voice for America’s pets in this election.

LWC: Why do you think you are the candidate of choice for the position?
Dolly: As a former shelter pet who beat the odds and found a wonderful home at WearWoof where I’ve become an important Business Cat and local animal welfare icon, I feel that I truly understand the issues shelter animals face every day. Plus, with the backing of so many important business, civic, and animal welfare leaders, I am confident that I can deliver upon the Fix America campaign promises.

LWC: How did you come by way of your platform “Fix America?”
Dolly: Anyone who works in animal welfare, as I do, knows that effective spay-neuter programs are essential to reducing the number of healthy, adoptable animals that are euthanized in shelters each year. While I was in the shelter that summer, I saw kittens being dropped off in duffel bags and cardboard boxes by the dozen, each and every day! Would they get sick in the shelter? Would they all find homes? What about the neonatal kittens? It’s not hard to see why spay-neuter became a passion for me.

LWC: With this platform, how to you hope to inspire the American people?
Dolly: Americans are animal lovers! Cats rule the internet! The American pet product and services industry is gangbusters! Sadly, only a couple percent of all charitable giving in the US each year goes to animal welfare. I want to use that passion that Americans have for their own pets to inspire those animal lovers to support their local shelters and rescues, to give to spay-neuter and TNR programs, and most of all, to spay and neuter their own pets.

LWC: Given your political opponents, how do you differentiate yourself from the rest of the litter?
Dolly: The biggest difference I see between myself and my opponents is that I’m absolutely adorable. Did you notice my big green eyes? Also, I can lick my own hindquarters.

LWC: What, do you think, will be your greatest take-away from this experience?
Dolly: Hopefully a quarter million dollars! We aren’t kidding about raising money for our mission. We have serious, life-saving goals with this campaign, and those dogs and cats aren’t going to neuter themselves! Dolly: I want people to learn three things: a) Cats are far superior life forms and it’s time to accept us as your supreme overlords, b) Spay-neuter is essential to ending pet homelessness, c) Adopt, don’t shop for your next supreme overlord (or dog.)
