NBC 12, out of Richmond, VA, profiled Henrico County, VA veterinarian Dr. Lori Elliott in an Acts of Kindness feature, and donated $300 toward her ongoing charitable efforts that help her area’s cats, dogs and pet owners.
Dr. Elliott provides surgery for homeless animals in need and started her clinic’s Good Samaritan Fund to help with the cost of medications and supplies to help with the animals’ adoption.
Michelle Presley, a client and part time vet staffer arranged for the feature and award and told the news crew, “She brings them in, takes them into the clinic, fixes them up, does whatever needs to be done and finds a home for them.”
The fund also helps pets stay healthy and remain in their homes. Michelle said the fund began, “Mostly to help folks who couldn’t afford vaccines for their animals, and it’s just grown from there to something that saves animals.”
