Men building a house tore apart sheetrock, wood and a concrete floor in their efforts to save two furry little lives, when kittens became trapped during the project.

Workers cut holes in sheetrock and wood throughout a house under construction in Sandy, UT before realizing the kitten – later found to be kittens – they heard crying were trapped in honeycomb blocks beneath the poured concrete garage floor. The crew decided they were willing to pay out of pocket for the setback to the job and tore up the concrete to rescue the kittens, knowing they could not bear to leave them to die.

The workers adopted two of the kittens. The third was unreachable and is thought to have been taken by the mother.
