A burned kitten rescued from a California wildfire last year has recovered and found the perfect home.
Mr. Chubbie was just a kitten when KRCR News Channel 7 Chief Photographer Adam McAllister rescued him from the Boles Fire in Redding, California last year.
At the time of his rescue, the kitten had burned ears, fur and paws. He spent a few hours in the KRCR newsroom before being taken to Asher Animal Hospital in Redding for care.
Kitty was adopted by Asher Animal Hospital technician supervisor Amy Pero, has fully recovered and is doing great.
“He just kind of snuck into my heart. No body had come forward for him. The shelters were full, so it just kind of seemed like the right thing to do,” Amy told KRCR for a followup story that ran on September 15. “He had a great personality and very sweet. He needed the help, so we gave it to him.”
Many animals lost their lives in the Boles Fire and Amy says Mr. Chubbie’s survival is reminder that miracles can happen.
